International Solar Solutions Inc. (“ISolar”) and Green Leaf Distribution Inc. have announced an agreement with Georgian College. The two wholly owned Canadian Companies manufacture and distribute (respectively) Canadian made Solar Attic Vents throughout North America. The agreement provides students the opportunity to develop research programs that will study the various solar attic vent installation benefits.
The Solar Vents provide several benefits to homeowners including reduction in electricity consumption, increased life span of asphalt shingles, and a substantial increase in attic air flow reducing mold growth. So, the study aims to delve on temperature differences between residential attic spaces with and without Solar Powered Roof Vent.
Multiphase study on the effects of solar attic vent installation
Initial technical studies will take place at the Barrie, Ontario campus to the extent possible. Phase two of testing will incorporate test homes in and around the south Georgian Bay area: Collingwood, Wasaga Beach and Alliston. It will focus on the collection of real-world temperature and moisture reduction data. Phase three will also include Building and Design Departments for the construction of iSolar scale testing facilities. Sustainable energy and environmental students will attend this part.
Natural Sciences and Engineering Research Council (“NSERC”) of Canada will partially fund this study project by a grant. In addition to the grant, iSolar and Green Leaf will provide incremental project funding, as needed. This is to assist Georgian in aspiring to the highest possible standards of scientific research and innovation.
The information will be used to encourage consumer and government participation in this sustainable energy reduction initiative.
